The saying "good things come in small packages" holds true when opening up a box from Magnolia Bakery. Located on 401 Bleecker Street, the quaint, little bakery is known for its assortment of cupcakes where you can choose your cupcake through self -service. When you enter Magnolia Bakery, you will be greeted by chocolate buttermilk, vanilla and red velvet cupcakes resting on cooking trays to your left. Each cupcake is more tempting than the next, with the assortment of pastel colored vanilla frosting, chocolate, or the whipped vanilla icing. Just as you fill the small box with he cupcakes of your choice, next up are jars of cookies - peanut butter, brown sugar, traditional sugar cookie, chocolate chip, or oatmeal raisin cookies. It's your choice, only 75 cents a cookie. Even "checking out" is a delightful experience at Magnolia. All of your homemade products are given a home in a small, delicate white cardboard box sealed with a sticker. Need something to wash down the cupcake? Small cartons of whole milk are available to make the experience a complete and indulgent one.

The baked goods, which also include cakes and pies, are all made daily from fresh preservative-free ingredients. As written on their menu, "At Magnolia Bakery we keep it simple, wholesome and true. Everything is made fresh daily from scratch using the finest quality ingredients." These cupcakes are the real deal.

So if you have a sweet tooth and some time, hop on the subway, take the one train to 14th street and walk about five minutes to Bleecker Street and there you will find Magnolia Bakery. It is worth the hour of traveling and the three dollars for a cupcake. The satisfaction of opening the small box with the delicious, home made, quality moist cupcake with a sweet creamy frosting to complement it is worth the time. Take one trip to Magnolia Bakery and you will find that good things really do come in small packages.
