Appearing similar to a Marshall's chain store with a large, bright sign, well organized and neatly hung rows of clothing and accessories, Unique Thrift is a subtle and beneficial addition to the Riverdale/Kingsbridge community.

Located between Broadway and Kingsbridge Avenues on 235th St. next to the British Petroleum gas station, Unique Thrift is a five minute walk down the stairs from Overlook Manor and a straight shot from the 1 stop on Broadway.

Opened during the summer, Unique's exterior is brand new and looks more like a major chain store than a local thrift store. The store's interior is also uncommonly organized, clean and diverse in selection for a thrift store. Unlike your other local thrift stores, Unique is similar to a large and well run Goodwill or Salvation Army store.

The inside is as large as a grocery store with long aisles of clothing, all of which hung and well organized. The perimeter of the store is lined with shelves sectioned out respectively for random books, antiques, baby accessories, hang bags and other accessories.

The center of the store is lined with several hundred yard long rows of clothing sectioned off by gender, the first half of the store is mainly men's and boys clothing. The back half offers a much larger selection of women's clothing and accessories.

The men's and boy's clothing is heavily dominated by a decent range of jackets and sports wear. The jackets range from retro 80's winter jackets to trench coats, leather biker jackets to casual jean jackets. Although all seemed to be clean and in decent condition most sweatshirt and jacket prices were nearly $20. Perhaps a good deal with all things considered, however, they seemed a little over priced for the decade in which they were considered "Envogue".

The sportswear consisted of pro-team jerseys, mesh gym shorts and seemingly leftover recreational team uniforms which had been donated after the teams' seasons ended. All of the second-hand sports attire was more of a deal, overwhelmingly none exceeded single digit pricing.
