Women's Tennis:
The Lady Jaspers captured their second win of the season when they easily defeated Wagner 7-0. Then on Wednesday the team traveled to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing to face Monmouth University and won 4-3. Their weekend matches against Rider and Villanova were postponed due to inclement weather. The team will return to action today at Sacred Heart.
Women's Volleyball:
The women's volleyball team fell to Providence College last Wednesday in four sets, 1-3. On Saturday the Lady Jaspers squared off with Saint Peter's College and won in dramatic fashion, 3-2. Unfortunately on Sunday the Lady Jaspers lost to Siena College, 0-3. The teams hosts conference rival Marist this Saturday in Draddy at noon.
Men's Soccer:
On Wednesday the Jaspers fell to Long Island University, 1-3. Then the Jaspers played host to Howard University on Saturday and notched their second win of the season. Senior Sean Morin tallied the Jaspers first goal of the game, and sophomore standout Thomas Bandov came up with a hat trick to propel the Jaspers to a 4-2 win.
Women's Soccer:
The women's soccer team headed to Staten Island on Friday to play Wagner. Junior Courtney McMahon found the back of the net ten minutes into the game; however Wagner scored the equalizer with eight minutes remaining. Neither team was able to deliver a game winner throughout two overtime sessions and the Lady Jaspers tied Wagner 1-1.
Men's Basketball:
Head coach Barry Rohrssen announced last week that former player Guy Ngarndi will be a member of his staff this season. Ngarndi will serve as the program's coordinator of basketball operations and will also assist with the day-to-day operations of the basketball offices.
On another note, Rohrssen will attend the 2008 Jimmy V Basketball Classic Dinner on Tuesday October 14. The event will be hosted by ESPN's own Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg.
