"Everything Perfect" was heavy on screaming, electronica, catchy riffs and edgy metal thrash. Much of this very successful formula remained for the self-titled effort but the adjustments made were all for the better. Vocalist Jerry Roush toned down the screaming and displays his solid vocal range that was rarely used on "Everything Perfect." Guitarists Lee Duck and Zack Ordway expanded on the solid guitar parts and produced even more riffs that will have you placing this album in the daily rotation on your iPod.
SEA's electronica is what seems to set them apart from other bands in the rapidly expanding electronicore genre. What is electronicore you say? It is yet another sub-genre that mixes multiple elements to create a new sound and is very much a love it or hate it genre. Mixing hardcore, post-hardcore, metal and finally electronica can sound either amazingly interesting or like a synthesizer went hire wire and someone was spazzing out on guitar, bass and drums and got really angry and started yelling. Luckily for the sake of all, SEA knows how to put two and two together. In both albums the SEA MacBook Pro (which, on a humorous note, has its own MySpace page: www.myspace.com/maceatsairplane) is that piece that finishes the puzzle by connecting the whole album together. Think of it as a continuous beat that a band would play in between songs on a live set. But on "Sky Eats Airplane" the synth creativity goes beyond just providing connecting beats and guitar effects and spreads into vocal effects that upon first hearing, one may think something is wrong with their iPod.
