Swimming Team Finished Ninth in the MAAC

The Manhattan Swimming team has been developing over the years. The team finished this season 10-5, and they were placed ninth in the MAAC championships for the second consecutive year.

In the MAAC championships the Lady J's finished off with a total of 113 points, which is the best performance in the post season by the school. The swimming team also broke various school records at the MAAC championships held in Baltimore, Maryland, from February 19 to 21.

The Lady Jaspers participated in the MAAC swimming and diving championships against many talented and extremely competitive teams. In the first day of the championships, the Lady Jaspers finished off in eighth place with 46 points.

The 400 medley relay team of Sarah Szotak, Rachele Testa, Courtney Arduini and Bethany Karbowski broke a school record of 4:38.80 by 10 seconds. Another school record was broken by the 200 medley team Szotak, Testa, Arduini and Karbowski with the time of 1:48.10. That was the best performance by Manhattan in the first day of the competition. The Lady Jaspers had a solid performance at the event and each individual swimmer placed well. Everyone gave it their all in the championships and tried to keep Manhattan on top.

In the second day of the competition the Lady Jaspers finished off ninth with 89 points. Karbowski, Szotak, Testa and Arduini participated in the 200 medley relay and broke their own school record of 2:02.38. In the 800 freestyle relay, Heather Kennedy, Kim DelGrosso, Bethany Karbowski and Lauren Sullivan were placed ninth with 9:12.23.

In the third and final day of the championships, Marist was first place with 820.50, second place was Rider with 741 points and third place was Loyola with a total of 561 points. For Manhattan in the 400 medley relay Testa, Arduini, Karbowski and Szotak broke their own school record with a time of 4:38.73. Arduini, Kennedy, Karbowski and Szotak broke another school record in the 400 freestyle relay with the time of 3:59.93.
