On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Manhattan men's lacrosse team held their sixth consecutive Alumni Game at Gaelic Park. There were over 300 spectators. Friends and family showed up, despite the rain warning, to support the lacrosse program.

The exciting game started, and the current men's lacrosse team was ready to show the alums that they are more athletic and determined to win. In the first half, the undergrads were in full control. They outscored the alums. The entire undergrad team was working together to defeat the alums. The current Jasper team went into halftime very confident and motivated with the score of 10-2.

Down by eight, at the half, the alums were eager to keep up with the undergrads, while the undergrads were looking forward to staying on top of the alums by increasing their lead. Witnessing the deficit, the fans started shouting words of encouragements for the alums at the start of the second half. Although the families were trying to inspire the alums to play more assertively, the current Jaspers seemed to be the ones hearing the shouts. The undergrads started the second half with more power and were ready to completely take over.

Much of the excitement took place in the second half when the alums became more aggressive in an attempt to stop the undergrads from scoring. They did not succeed, however, and the undergrads proved to be more dominant by scoring eight more goals. The alums were only allowed to score three more in the second half, one in the third and two in the fourth quarter.

In the third quarter, at the 12:13 mark, the undergrads increased their lead 11-2. After seeing that the undergrads were determined to win this game, the alums became more forceful. Although the alums were playing insensitively, the undergrads were faster and more efficient in their passing procedures, which is why they were leading by nine when heading into the fourth. In the third quarter, the undergrads easily scored four goals and, with less than one minute left in the third, scored their 16th goal of the game. Most of the action occurred around the alums' goal zone. The action that did occur around the opposite direction quickly dissolved in a blow of whistle.

The players were satisfied with the event. "I think that we prepared for the Alumni Game well, it shows that we are going to be ready for the season," said senior, Konstantine Rountos. Many believe that the lacrosse program is improving at Manhattan and that is why they have the Alumni Game. "The purpose of this game is to show the progression of the team. It is also to bring everyone back together," said Brian Wynne. Gerard McCloskey, Steven Russo, Rountos and Wynne all agreed that the real purpose of the alumni game is to bring back the Manhattan lacrosse family together.
