It is estimated that there are about 700 students enrolled in the school of Business. In the school of Business, students have the option of majoring in Accounting, Computer Information System, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Management and Global Business (which can only be taken in conjunction with other six business majors).

Many students aren't aware of all the options they have. A lot of students feel that they need some kind of advice or help when it comes to choosing the right major/minor. But usually, they seek guidance when it is too late. Therefore, it is better to guide students now and prepare them to choose the future wisely.

Cynthia O'Donnell, the advisor for the school of Business said, "When it comes to choosing a major, the best advice I can give to students is to choose whatever interests them."

In the long run, it is the student who has to stick with the career for about 60 years of their life.

Ashley Dennis, sophomore at MC, said "I chose to enter the business school because my dad went here back in the 70's and influenced me to choose accounting. Currently, I am majoring in Accounting and minoring in Spanish."

On the other hand, Steven Salvatore, also a sophomore said, "I chose the Business school because I know that coming out of college with an accounting degree will land me with a definite degree."

Another important aspect that O'Donnell advised on was that "freshmen and sophomores should check with their advisors before choosing a course. It is important that they explore subjects and broaden their horizons, but when picking an elective, it is best to stick with the 200 level classes."

According, to O'Donnell, after graduation, it is seen that most students graduate as a Finance or Marketing major. That, however, does not lessen the value of other majors. Basically, school of business tries to be flexible with students. Students have many options to choose from. For instance, they can minor in any one of the business areas and in arts or engineering. There are wide array of courses to choose from, and one can only benefit from them once they know about it.

So get out there and don't waste any time. Start looking into majors and make best use of college education. Be prepared for the world out there! Maybe even in business?
