On Thursday we saw a performance by John Kerry that shouldn't have surprised anyone. What he said showed that he truly doesn't have a clear view or understanding of what is going on in the world and the new threat of terrorism we face. This week I will go through some of the things Kerry discussed at the debate.
Kerry stated that the real war on terror is solely with bin Laden and centered in Afghanistan. Such a view represents foolish pre-September 10th thinking. When he says things of this nature it truly makes me think that Kerry would stop the war once bin Laden is caught or confirmed killed. Does he really think that once bin Laden is in our hands or killed that every terrorist will just go home and say, "That was fun I like the United States now"? We need to actively pursue all terrorists and countries that support them, including but not limited to al Qaeda. To believe that bin Laden is the only serious concern just shows how behind the times Kerry truly is.
Kerry said that we had bin Laden surrounded and we lost him because we, "outsourced the job to Afghan warlords." Well the fact is not only do we not know if bin Laden was truly in those mountains, but the Afghan war lords probably knew the terrain better than any of our soldiers because they were from that area. Not to mention, Kerry criticizes the president for not using our allies. Well, the Afghans were our new allies and now Kerry wants the US to do it all.
He said that we are taking the brunt of the causalities. This is just one more place were democrats don't know how to look at statistics. When we have the majority of troops participating, then yes we'll also have the most hits. Even if we had twenty more nations involved there wouldn't be a drastic drop in US casualties because no other country is going to deploy nearly the same number of troops we have committed. Kerry said we have the "best trained troops in the world" so I'm confused why we would want any other country doing the job we want done.
