Why I like President Bush

Christian Polhamus

Issue date: 10/27/04 Section: Perspectives
Four more years would be a positive outcome to this election. But alas, I am doomed to be a conservative destined to drone through life disagreeing with my increasingly liberal country. I side with the president, perhaps there is a slight loyalty to my party, but after the past presidential term I feel several things: my military is growing after Clinton's cutbacks, Saddam Hussein, a tyrant, is no longer in power, countless dangerous Afghani and Iraqi threats have been neutralized, and democracy has spread through Afghanistan and is talking ground in Iraq, in all I feel safer. A September 21-21, 2001 gallop poll showed the president with an approval rating of 90%. Why aren't we still hearing about that? This is because in just three years America has turned its back on George W. Bush. I'm still hearing about the failure of last election four years later, but in one year 90% of those polled thought Bush was the cats meow. "HE DIDN'T WIN THE ELECTION!" yes, he did. "WELL whose BROTHER IS THE GOVERNOR?" a one Mister Jeb Bush... I don't get your point... I guess Jeb personally counted and lied about those votes or at least personally threatened those who counted the votes for that to have any barring in this situation.
Simply put there are four reasons why I like George W. Bush. While this man may not be the best at rehearsing a speech; he knows how to speak from his heart, he has and will continue to take action against terrorism here at home and abroad, he has long term plans for the US and the world, and after his first term I feel more secure against the threats of terrorists. Every man is flawed, no man is perfect. While Bush has his shortcomings they dont put America's secureity on the line. Kerry has not proven himself in the political ring. If the man cannot produce results in the Senate why would I want him as president? His Senate performance confuses me. He changes his postition too often. Kerry looks for the popular view on issues I believe. These are not the actions of a decisive president; these are the actions of a president who will constantly look at the polls to find what will make him look better. Say what you want about The President but he has a vision and he is acting on it.
