Girls! Girls! Girls! And oh yeah, did I mention more girls? Welcome to the life of Alfie Elkins in the movie entitled Alfie, which stars Jude Law. Law's resume includes a long list of movies such as Cold Mountain, Road to Perdition, and the upcoming movie entitled Closer with Julia Roberts. Now I know there was some tough competition out there with The Incredibles hitting theatres the same weekend and The Grudge cashing in at number one for two straight weekends, but I figured that Jude Law was a little easy on the eyes and it is only fair to give everyone a large array of movie choices.
Alfie is a remake of the 1966 film starring Michael Caine. You might remember Caine from Goldmember or The Cider House Rules.
Yet whether we are in 1966 or 2004, I guess it is safe to say that Alfie resembles the life of what we call our classic Casanova or "player". Quickly moving from one relationship to another always searching for his next victim while at the same time keeping these three letters in the back of his mind-F.B.B. (Face, Breasts-which was not exactly his word choice, and lastly what he likes to call the Bum). If you want to find out more about those three letters then perhaps you have more of a reason to check out Alfie, but other than that I hope that helps you grasp a better concept of what Alfie looks for in women. . Jude Law's character Alfie also says that the most beautiful women are found in New York. I am sure that we women here in New York cannot argue with that statement.
If you want more of an overview, Alfie's story basically goes like this. Each day he picked out a word of the day from his calendar and as you might guess fidelity was never one of those words. As a limo driver, Alfie meets a lot of his love interests, such as Susan Sarandon's character Liz, who is not too innocent in this movie. Alfie's other leading ladies include actresses Marisa Tomei and Jane Krakowski who you might remember from Ally McBeal. Omar Epps also appears in the movie as Alfie's best friend, Marlon. Without giving too much away, Alfie disregards the rules of friendship and lives to regret it.
