On Wednesday November 10th, Massage On the Go hosted a free workshop for the very stressed out Manhattan College students. One of co-owners, Meredith, demonstrated stress-relieving techniques and provided students with important information regarding massages.

The workshop began with an introduction that described the biological and physiological aspects of a massage. After the introduction, students participated in a group massage that served as an icebreaker- the audience sat in a circle and massaged each other's shoulders. Later in the program, students massaged each other in groups of two or three people. The company demonstrated techniques that are useful during finals time and explained how to safely and effectively give and receive a massage. Students also practiced exercises to relieve sore muscles and learned about relaxation methods.

Antonia Conti, Vice President of Social Life and coordinator of the event, said, "I think people found massage therapy useful. It is especially helpful during finals time- it will help people relax."

Massage on the Go's demonstration was the first time Manhattan College held a massage workshop, and because of its success, Student Activities is considering holding another program.

Conti added, "There is also a possibility that we might even start our own massage certification program."

Blair Lampe, Vice President of Resident Student Association, said, "Meredith will be back. She and her husband runs the program so they will be back for finals weekend at the student government lounge."

Students who meet the program's requirements will receive certification.

"I was actually very pleased because the turn out was more then I expected," said Lampe.

Sophomore Dominick Mach said, "I thought the massage therapy was very helpful. I thought it was a very good to do in the mist of a stressful week. It helped me relax. I thought she was very nice."
