This season it is definitely all about the cross country teams. Both teams have outdone
themselves since the beginning of the season in September. The men's team successful streak started in Sept. 10 at Boston University Invitational. The team managed to earn 16 points that helped them take the first place. The women's team finished at an impressive fourth place at the event.
If you have been paying attention to this progress, two names that automatically grab your attention are freshman Erika Perrault and junior Tyler Raymond. Little by little the men's team has been moving forward at a remarkable rate. At
the Metropolitan Championships held at Van Cortlandt Park, lady luck
definitely seemed to be on Tyler Raymond's side as he finished seventh leading
the Manhattan College men's cross country team to a fourth place finish. Two
weeks later on Oct. 15th in a match against Iona College, Tyler Raymond
landed first place in the 5050-meter race.
The teams were convinced that this season was going to be great. Earlier this season Raymond commented about the season and their expectations, "team is hoping to have a good season this year. We are doing a lot in order to be good, we practice and run together as a group. There are six freshmen on the team and 21 people overall. The freshmen are very solid and that will help a lot in the season. We are just all stronger together."
The team has really been doing well this season. "We have had a lot of success this season so far, our best performance was down in Disney in the MAAC tournament. We should do pretty well for the remainder of the season," said Matt Reilly.
Later in the month on Oct. 30th the cross country team traveled to Orlando, FL for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at the Wide World of Sports Complex. The men's team won second place with only 57 points in the Championships. Raymond was the top finisher for Manhattan.
The woman's team is not far behind in victory. In the Metropolitan
