Discount designer fashion can now be found at a familiar place: H&M. H&M has provided fashion hounds with affordable, contemporary fashions since its arrival in the United States in 2000. Karl Lagerfeld's new line, which launched at select H&M stores on Friday, November 12th has left all budget fashionistas wide-eyed and overjoyed.

Karl Lagerfeld, though best known for his legendary design collaboration with Chanel, has also shared his unique sense of style with many other notable designers, including Valentino, Fendi, and Chloe. But no matter which designer he was working with, Lagerfeld has always maintained his own distinctive form, which is fun and adds a sense of humor to fashion. He is generally considered one of the most prominent and influential fashion designers of the twentieth century. With such an impressive reputation, it is no wonder that his fashions are lusted after by New York City's wealthiest socialites and celebrities. But now, with Karl Lagerfeld's newest venture, not being able to afford to shop high fashion does not mean you cannot look high fashion!

The new line, which is both sleek and elegant, includes the must-have items of the season with prices and quality that live true to Lagerfeld's idea that "design is very important and is not a question of price only. H&M has made inexpensive desirable." Karl Lagerfeld has now joined Isaac Mizrahi, who began designing for Target this past summer, in the creation of inexpensive, exclusive collections to be sold by mass retailers. This is really great news for college students on the hunt for city-chic clothes on a college student's budget.

The collection includes a plain, crisp white T-shirt displaying a simple sketch of Lagerfeld. Upon walking around to view the collection, it is evident from the fact that almost every customer is carrying it that this shirt will be the signature piece of the line. Other styles include a sequined jacket, ruffle tops, and pleated skirts. It is clear from Lagerfeld's use of the Chanel signature intricate button-down closure on the gorgeous chiffon dress in his collection that he used his own vision as well as influence from the many designers that he has worked with in the past to create his new line for H&M.
