The long Thanksgiving weekend is a time for family togetherness but there are some of us that need to get away from it all. Aside from the sales at the malls, Americans flock to the movies to see the biggest blockbusters of the year. This annual time of spectacular movie usually does not disappoint. This year should not be any different.
Alexander is the story of one of the greatest military leaders in the history of the world. Conquering ninety percent of the known world at that time when he was only twenty-five. Alexander, the King of Macedonia, is played by Colin Farrell. A star-studded cast including Val Kilmer, Angelina Jolie, and Anthony Hopkins, all assist in the storytelling of Alexander's journey. This film is set during the eight years in which Alexander's armies fought bloody battles. Beside the war, we see his relationship with his childhood friend Hephaistion. With the conquest of Alexander, a sense of admiration arises as well.
In the film National Treasure starring Nicholas Cage. His character, Benjamin Franklin Gates, is looking for a treasure that most people suspect does not even exist. He searches different countries to find clues that get him closer and closer to the treasure in the world which is thought to be hidden by our country's founding fathers. There are even clues hidden on the dollar bill. Franklin Gates has a mission to find this mysterious treasure before the FBI, who Gates suspects has information about this detailed secret.
The ever so talented Johnny Depp creates another film regarding the magical story of Peter Pan. Critics agree that Depp once again is spectacular. His character, J.M. Barrie, is the author of the story. His inspiration for his tale comes from bonding with the four children of a widow (Kate Winslet). Finding Neverland is his fun and loving relationship with the children as we see them play tricks and games, put on disguises, and inventing a world of make-believe-the basic qualities of the lost boys in Neverland. It is from these adventures that the brainstorming for Peter Pan begins.
