Doug Mientkiewicz has been recently added to the Mets. Mientkiewicz is a solid and defensive player who can successfully fill the position of first basemen. This shows that the Mets are looking at an excellent starting infield with young soon to be super-stars Kazuo Matsui and David Wright. Then there is also Jose Reyes who, barring any injuries, will hopefully blossom into the shortstop everyone knows he is capable of being. Mientkiewicz will do his job as he always has at first. People may be looking at one of the best infields in the majors.
This is very positive for the Mets as they look forward to a brighter future. The Mets have an excellent shot at winning the National League East next season with Philly not making any major moves. Many have faith that the Mets can get past Atlanta as well. People will wait and see, because only time can tell how good these guys will be. The outlook is great and people look forward to having two great teams in New York next season. Can you smell another Subway Series? Quite possibly.
