Residents of the Jasper Hall's 5th floor were stunned to see the arrival of the FBI and NYPD. Some students and friends of Segal were questioned by the authorities, and asked whether or not they had seen Michael Moore's controversial movie Fahrenheit 9/11 among other questions. Some were also asked about their political leanings, and personal details about Segal's recent history.
"I was shocked. I wish he didn't get caught" said Emily Clyne, sophomore Psychology major and friend of Dave Segal. A student from the Black Flag/Red Flag Chapter of Manhattan College, who wished to remain anonymous, said "Wanting social change is one thing, but it can't be achieved through random acts of violence."
"He wanted to let people know you don't need to join the army," Said Alex Kovos, a longtime friend of Segal, "It was symbolic, not about hurting people. I've known Dave for like a year and a half now. A group that goes around killing people around the world, that's the real enemy, imperialism and capitalism, that's what he's fighting. He was trying to show people that. I believe him to be a well balanced person who was only out to help people."
