After the game, the Patriots class-act attitudes shined. "To me this trophy belongs to these players, said coach Belichick. "They play great all year and they deserve it, they really deserve it." These are some modest words for a coach whose 10-1 playoff record just surpassed Hall-of-Fame coach Vince Lombardi, the man that the NFL named the championship trophy after. Two time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady said, "what a tough opponent. Deion made some great plays, Corey ran the ball great."
With this win, Boston sports now hold the past two NFL championships and the World Series Trophy. After Boston was named the best city for sports in Sporting News magazine, it seems as if they're truly living up to their title. The Lombardi trophy is now heading back up to the Bay State where the celebration parade will be held this week. With the exception of Defensive Coordinator Romeo Crennel and Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weiss who are leaving after this season for Cleveland and Notre Dame respectively, the Patriots should be bringing back almost the entire 2004 team with the lack of free agents on the roster. Look for yet another impressive season from this dynasty in 2005.
