Quote: "It feels good because at times I thought I wouldn't even make it to college and now to be doing well, it feels so good."
-C.J. Anderson

If anyone does not know his name by now, then he or she certainly will. Freshman C.J. Anderson, whose full name is Curtis Anderson, Jr. is definitely making a name for himself on the Manhattan College men's basketball team.

Playing the sport of basketball since the fifth grade, Anderson is definitely no stranger to the court. In his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio he accomplished an amazing feat by being the leading scorer for the three years he attended Winton Woods High School earning him a well-deserved scholarship to attend Manhattan College. While on the team in high school he was able to play different positions on the court. Anderson stated, "In high school I played everywhere on the floor so it's different than now." He averaged nineteen points, five assists, and eight rebounds a game in his senior year in high school where the Cincinnati Enquirer also named him First Team All-City as stated in The Official Athletic Website of Manhattan College.

As a guard/forward, Anderson broke a major record at Manhattan by being recognized six times as Rookie of the Week by the Metropolitan Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). For those who are unfamiliar as to what exactly all of this means, well, that is the greatest number of times in one season that a Jasper has been recognized as Rookie of the Week at MC. Now if breaking a Manhattan record is not enough, then perhaps people should know that receiving this honor six times ties Anderson for third most all-time in the history of MAAC. When he was asked what is like to be recognized as Rookie of the Week several times, Anderson replied, "It feels good because I'm being recognized so early in my career and it also feels good because I've worked hard to get where I'm at now."

In March, Anderson will be attending his first MAAC tournament and when asked to explain anything that was going through his mind he stated, "I'm excited about the MAAC tournament because it is my first and I look forward to helping the team 3-peat." Anderson also went on to say that even with all the excitement, right now he is just trying to concentrate on the rest of the season and upcoming games.
