Before bleachers packed with fans, the Manhattan Jaspers defeated the Fairfield Eagles, 69 - 61 on Sunday, Jan. 30th.

Manhattan maintained the lead throughout the game, thanks to help from players such as Junior Guard, Jason Wingate, Freshman Forward/Guard, CJ Anderson, who scored 7 and 17 points, respectively, and Junior Guard, Kenny Minor, who had eight rebounds. Despite their continuous lead, they had no time to relax because Fairfield players such as Terrence Todd, kept them on their toes.

The Jaspers were determined to win the game and knew that it would be an important win. "We had to win this game," Mulligan explains. "Fairfield is a great team...We needed this win and there was no way we were going to walk off this court without [it]."
The Jasper's determination raised their record to 10-8 overall, and 5-5 in the MAAC conference.

The Jaspers were supported by their fans. "I didn't know it was going to be this crowded," Senior Forward, Peter Mulligan, said. "It definitely surprised me and I wanted to play well." His desire to please the crowd paid off, with Mulligan scoring 28 points over the duration of the game, including a slam dunk and a three-point free throw, helping Manhattan to soar ahead of the Eagles 32-21 at the half.

The men's team traveled to Albany on Feb. 1st to take on the Siena College Saints. Unfortunately the Jaspers felt short and lost 68-66. The Jaspers suffered another loss against Iona, 55-53. Both games were very close and the winners assured the victories within the last minutes of the games.

With the approaching MAAC Tournament, the men's basketball team is trying to win as many games as possible. They will face Rider, Marist, Loyola and Canisius at home in the next couple of weeks.
