Not Your Average Sweet 16

Surely some girls can remember trying to get everything prepared for the perfect sweet sixteen, if that even exists. The endless invites, the never-ending bills, which of course your parents had to worry about and probably wanted to shred in hopes of making them disappear. We cannot forget the stress and excitement that comes along with picking the most amazing dress that has ever been worn in the history of sweet sixteen events. Perhaps some guys also threw a party when they turned 16.

Now imagine throwing this huge bash and having MTV follow every plan, every invite, and then having the nation see the whole thing on television. Well, MTV recently made all of that possible with its new series entitled My Super Sweet 16. In this series, MTV followed individuals hoping to throw the biggest bash of the year-their sweet 16. But that is not all. The interesting thing about My Super Sweet 16 was that it not only documented the incredible drama that goes along with a girl trying to throw the best sweet 16 ever, but the show is also based on other celebrations besides a sweet sixteen. For example, one male hoping to throw an unforgettable party and one female who wants to get ahead of the game by throwing a sweet 15.

The teens on this show go through extreme measures to throw the party that everyone wants an invite to. Presumably if someone does not get an invite, well then he or she is basically considered to be a nobody according to the "in" groups standards.

Teens on this show consider themselves to be the best and will only accept the best. One episode, which was rather interesting, documented two girls, Lauren and Jacqueline, who happened to be friends. They decided to get together to throw the party of all parties. From the start, it was easy to see that these girls would do anything to make that possible. Perhaps we can learn some things from this show like the fact that Beyonce would definitely perform at your party if you pay her $500,000. Well, the girls were not willing to go that extreme and got Unwritten Law to perform at the party instead. But of course, this is was only due to some connections that Lauren's father had.

Lauren and Jacqueline are basically spoiled rich girls who had an entire Saks Fifth Avenue store close for their own private fittings of dresses. This was where some drama began. It turned out that both Lauren and Jacqueline were interested in similar dresses. Any girl knows that you never want to be seen at a party wearing the same dress or at least something similar to what another girl is wearing.
