Last Friday, 4 March, two students from the College of Mount Saint Vincent were indicted stemming from the rape of a 17-year old girl last November.

The two students, Luigi Nikci, and Patrick A. Narciso, are accused of raping the 17 year old during a house party in the town of Kent, in Upstate New York. Nicki, a sophomore, and Narciso, a junior at the college, face charges alleging that they restrained the woman in an unused room of the house and sexually assaulted her. According to the Journal News, the two students are charged of first-degree rape, criminal sexual act and sexual abuse, which are all felonies. The two also face misdemeanor charges of unlawful imprisonment, forcible touching, and sexual misconduct. If found guilty, they each face up to 15 years imprisonment in a state penitentiary.

On 25 February, three detectives and accompanied by a sergeant from the NYPD went to Mount St. Vincent. Narciso was taken into custody without incident, and Nikci could not be located during the visit. Nicki then turned himself in to Kent police department last Tuesday, according to the police.

Both Nicki and Narciso are also on the college's basketball team, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins. Nicki and Narciso are both forwards on the team. They were both released on $100,000 bond each.

Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Madeline Melkonian, as a spokesperson for the Mount Saint Vincent, said to reporters that the two students are allowed to remain on campus and in classes until a final verdict is reached. When some Manhattan College students were arrested on charges ranging from murder to arson earlier this semester, the college decided to suspend the students with involuntary leaves of absence, a departure from the route taken by the College of Mount Saint Vincent, their sister school.

Adele Gatens, Vice President for Student Affairs at Mount Saint Vincent, gave a statement to faculty, staff, and students about Nicki and Narciso's arrests, stating that, "The college cannot and will not condone criminal behavior. It is our obligation to assume the innocence of the accused while awaiting a resolution in the courts."
