The meet started off great for the men's team with the throwing events dominating as usual and setting the tone for the rest of the evening. The weight throwers swept all the big points by taking the top four places and racking up 28 points right off the bat. Junior Michael Freeman led the guys with a monstrous toss of 19.81 meters which was more than enough to capture first place. Junior Zoran Loncar pulled up in a close second. Then the Jasper's swept up the top three spots in the Shot Put. Freshman Milan Jotanovic succeeded in crushing the MAAC Championship record by 1.15m with a toss of 18.10 meters and of course grabbing the first place title. Finishing in second place was Anders Constantin. Paul Peulich and Richard Reuter also had strong performances for the Jasper throwers who ended up gaining 54 points for the men's team.
Manhattan also fared pretty well in the other field events. In the Triple Jump, freshman Dexter Jules led the pack by leaping 14.58 meters to capture the individual title. While Sophomore Andrew Pellet just missed it by 0.01 meters and having to settle for a very close second place finish. Sophomore Nick Newman was able to capture his first Long Jump title with a leap of 7.08 meters. Sophomore Christan Johnson broke the meets high jump record by 0.05 meters with his vertical jump of 2.16 meters as Sophomore Chris Sole came up in second. Senior Nils Petterson cleaned up the last field event by finishing first in the Pole Vault with his jump of 4.25 meters.
The men's distance runners and sprinters also were able to put up a few good performances and notched a few extra points for the Championship. In the mile run Tyler Raymond finished in third place with a time of 4:07.21. Todd Raymond and Matt Reilly also had good runs. Tyler Raymond also competed in the 800m run finishing only 0.02 seconds behind the second place finisher. Mike Foley, Josh Conklin, Juan Caceres, Joe McElhoney, and Tom Murphy also ran competitively for the distance crew.
