Elvis Presley may be dead, but his legacy endures at Peanut Butter & Co. in Greenwich Village. The sandwich shop is located on 240 Sullivan Street and serves the King's favorite snack- a grilled peanut butter sandwich stuffed with bananas and honey.
Peanut Butter & Co.'s unique menu is based on all-natural, homemade peanut butter. The shop serves classic and flavored peanut butter sandwiches made with the customer's choice of white or whole wheat bread and smooth or crunchy peanut butter. Conservative choices include the "Lunchbox Special"- a peanut butter sandwich topped with strawberry, grape, apricot, or raspberry jelly, and the "Fluffernutter"- peanut butter and Marshmellow Fluff. Slightly more eccentric are "The Pregnant Lady"- peanut butter and pickles- and "Cookie Dough Surprise"- peanut butter, vanilla cream cheese, and chocolate chips.
Adventurous customers, however, can choose from an assortment of flavored peanut butter sandwiches. Chocolate fiends will enjoy the gloppy "Dark Chocolate Dreams"- a dark chocolate peanut butter sandwich topped with cherry jam and shredded coconut. "Cinnamon-Raisin Swirl" emulates mom's apple pie; it features vanilla cream cheese, cinnamon raisin peanut butter, and apple slices. Carnivorous peanut butter enthusiasts can feast on the "Peanut Butter BLT" or "The Heat is On"- a grilled chicken sandwich smothered with spicy peanut butter and pineapple jam.
Peanut Butter & Co. also offers an extensive dessert menu to customers with the digestive stamina to make it that far into the meal. "Death by Peanut Butter" is a lethal combination of ice cream, peanut butter Captain Crunch cereal, whipped cream, peanut butter, Reeses Pieces, peanut butter sauce, and peanut butter chips. The PB&J Sundae, however, is a smaller, less intense sundae made with vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, strawberry jam, whipped cream, and peanut butter and strawberry sauces. The shop also serves baked goods, such as chocolate peanut butter pie and brownies, peanut butter caramel apples and cookies, and peanut butter s'mores.
