Junior forward Larie Dew helped Flood in the opening minutes of the second half while hitting a jump shot and finishing with eight points. While Flood kept burying jumper after jumper, the Lady Jaspers were soon up by 25 points with 12:44 left on the clock. The team finished with an outstanding shooting percentage of 55 percent for the game. Sophomore Gabrielle Cottrell and Senior Lupe Godinez also contributed with nine points each. All of this came together and resulted in a 78-48 stomping of the Rider Broncos.
Based on the first 17 games of the season the Lady Jaspers are 7-10 overall and have a 4-4 record in the MAAC. They have to get ready for their next two games in which they are playing away at New Rochelle against Iona and then they come home to face Marist. The Lady Jaspers are finished with their non-conference games and have a great opportunity to finish strong against conference teams and make it into the MAAC championships.
Freshmen Kymesha Alston and Kelly Regan have given the Lady Jaspers a spark this season due to their many games in double digits and Regan's numerous game highs in rebounds. Alston and Regan are averaging 7.3 and 8.1 points per game respectively which is 5th and 4th on the team. They are also 3rd and 4th on the team in rebounding.
Sophomores Caitlin Flood and Joan Nwafili have been leaders for this team with one year under their belts. Flood is leading the Lady Jaspers in scoring with 9.8 points per game and Nwafili is right behind her with 9.6 points per game. It seems as these sophomores have been great team leaders and they are only in their second year. Nwafili is also leading the team with 6.1 rebounds per game, 31 steals, 58 assists and 16 blocks.
Another key factor for these Lady Jaspers has been sophomore Gabrielle Cottrell who places third on the team in scoring with 8.5 points per game and also third on the team in three-point percentage, shooting .359 from behind the arc.
