During the past six years Manhattan College has experienced housing problems, specifically an influx in residents.

A combination of larger classes and an increase in the number of students applying as residents are several causes of the housing problems. Manhattan College leased the Riverdale townhouses and apartments and the Cambridge townhouses to accommodate all of the students that want to live on campus. Manhattan College is also planning to build a new dormitory, currently known as East Hill Tower II. It will be similar to Horan Hall and students from all levels will be housed there.

Chrysostom, the freshmen dormitory will be shut down and turned into faculty offices, though the plans for Chrysostom's future are not definite. Breaking ground on the new dormitory is due to start in 2007. The construction is estimated to be finished by August of 2008. A new parking garage is also being built to accommodate growing numbers.
